MEDICAL EXPLORERS AND OTHER UNITS
This first grouping of patches shows generic Medical Explorer patches, i.e. program patches. I have tried to place them in chronological order as best I could determine.
There are varieties of the above patch with different backings as seen below.
The next grouping are patches that were made for specific Medical Explorer posts. Although some of the patches appear to be "generic", I still believe them to be related to a specific group. I do not own all of these patches.
Note that this last one is a button, not a patch.
The next grouping are regular Scout troops as far as I can determine. They are here because their chartering unit is either a hospital or orther medical organization.
I am not certain what this patch represents. It appears to be a council patch (from Los Angeles Area Council) perhaps representing a troop position of Medic. If anyone knows, please contact me. Thanks! |
This next grouping is similar to the groups above, but the medical group is in Canada. This includes MedVents, which as best as I can determine are similar to medical explorers. The top three patches have the Scouting medical symbol with different color wreaths, but I have not been able to ascertain what the different colors mean.
These patches are made for anyone who takes the Wilderness First Aid courses in the North Peel Area. According to the leader from whom I received them, she has never seen any non-Scouts take the course, so that is why I have added them to my page. They are very suggestive of the North Peel MedVent patch above.
This next grouping includes some patches that are used for Scout medical groups used in Peru. I believe that these groups may be similar to EMS explorer programs.
The following patch was created for Scouters serving in a medical capacity in Korea.
The following neckerchief and armband were created for a Scout medical unit in Taiwan.
The following two luggage tags were made by Hiroshia Nakashima, who has made a lot of the Nippon jamboree memorabilia. He made these for medical staff for any event. I received them at the 2019 World Scout Jamboree.
I do not know which country the following patch is from. It does not look like the imagery usually seen in the United States. Does anyone know where it is from? Contact me if you know. Thanks!
This was a week where the theme was medical in Australia. Although it does not relate to a specific Scout group, as one can see on the patch, an ambulance group helped sponsor the event.
