1993 National Jamboree
The 1993 National Jamboree was again held at Fort AP Hill, VA. It was held on August 4 - August 10. Total attendance was 34,449, which surpassed the 1969 jamboree but was still less than every jamboree except 1937.

Dr. Hal Yocum was again Chief Medical Officer and issued patches similar in fashion to the previous jamborees. The one on the left was given to all Health and Safety staff while the one on the right with the medical staff was given to physicians.
These patches were the set issued by Dr. Michael Diamond with the five dfferent positions on the bottom. Note that the medical aide has two different border colors. Generally brown was the border of medical aide. I saw one patch one time with the green border, but this may have been a mistake issue by the patch manufacturer.
These are a couple of subcamp specific medical staff patches. The left one, for subcamp 5, was created by aide Janie Hessong. I do not know who created the one for the one on the right, subcamp 18.
These maroon patches were created for Western Region Medical Staff by Dan Napoliello, RN. As you see on the right, the white-bordered on was also sewn onto a pink armband with a couple of caduceus pins.
These same "I Survived Jamboree Health Service" were used in 1989 were reused in 1993 and were created by Dr. Tom Jones.
As in 1989, two groups created shoulder loops to signify medical staff.
These are the two pins that I have from the 1993 National Jamboree. There may be a couple of others. The left one was created for nurses, and the right one says at the bottom NIOSH-AEHA, which stands for National Institue for Occupational Safety and Health-Army Environmental Hygiene Agency, so I suspect this was created by the U.S. Army for the jamboree.
